Harlington leave it late to claim victory
HARLINGTON Bowls Club recorded a narrow victory over Bessingby this week.
A drawn second rink left it all to play for going into the third and final rink and they took full advantage to claim the win.
Strong efforts from Joan Fullbrook, Brenda Read and Sheila Cutmore in the opening game gave Harlington a 24-14 lead.
This was followed by a 23-all second involving Betty Poole, Cathy Fitzgerald and Derek Cutmore, giving the home side a 10-point advantage going into the last game.
The visitors performed valiantly and came to within a whisker of victory after a 22-15 final face-off win meant they narrowly fell short as Harlington won the match 62-59.
Meanwhile, Richings Park recorded a commanding win over Burnham.
The highlight came with a 30-10 rink victory thanks to Sue Puttock, Dagan Burt and Bob Matthews.
The following day, Richings Park played the second leg of their cup match against Iver Heath. Despite carrying a 25-shot lead the visitors eventually succumbed to a 23 point defeat after losing all six rinks in a disappointing performance.
