Un­der starters or­ders for fun run

IF you en­joy run­ning, hav­ing fun and want to do it all for a good cause then this year’s Hilling­don Hospi­tal Fun Run and Fam­ily Day is for you. There’s still a week left to en­ter the event which takes place on Sun­day Septem­ber 11.

THIS year’s Hare­field Hospi­tal Fun Run & Fam­ily Day is ex­tra spe­cial for two rea­sons.

The event is cel­e­brat­ing 35 years and also co­in­cides with the last day of Or­gan Do­na­tion Week.

Co­me­dian Eric More­cambe fired the start­ing pis­tol at the first fun run in 1981 and the event has gone from strength h to strength since then.

All pro­ceeds from the run on Septem­ber 11 will go to­wards Hare­field Hospi­tal’s In­ten­sive Care Unit ex­ten­sion, which will al­low for six new state-of-the-art rooms – that’s equiv­a­lent to 250 more pa­tients be­ing treated each year.

Last year’s Fun Run raised £54,000 for the In­ten­sive Care Unit and the char­ity team are hop­ing to top thath thishi year.

There is a brand new scenic cross coun­try route for par­tic­i­pants to get stuck into with three dif­fer­ent dis­tances to choose from: the 10K run will start at 10am, and the 5K and the shorter run/ walk will both start at 11am.

There will be three tro­phies on of­fer this year: largest team, most money raised by an in­di­vid­ual and most re­cen­tre trans­plant par­tic­i­pant.pa

The day’s en en­ter­tain­ment will in in­clude shows by lo­cal da dance groups, a dis­play of im­pres­sive mil­i­tary an and vin­tage ve­hi­cles, as we well as other ex­cit­ing act ac­tiv­i­ties from 10am – 2pm 2pm. There will be a ran range of food, arts and cra craft stalls. As al­ways, therether will be a grand raf­fler­affl as well as a tombo­latom stall.

En­try is £15 for adults and £10 for chil­dren and this in­cludes a t-shirt, medal and re­fresh­ments.

All com­pleted forms should be re­turned to the fundrais­ing of­fice no later than Wed­nes­day Septem­ber 7.
