Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

A LONG-STANDING furniture shop in Ruislip saw customers queuing down the street on the first day of its closing down sale.

Quilters in Ruislip High Street was opened in 1957 and is preparing to close its doors for the last time.

The shop was set up by June Quilter’s husband, and she said she answered the phone one day and found herself working there for 35 years.

June’s son and daughter-in-law now run the shop and the doors are set to close forever in the coming weeks.

An invitation-only closing down sale is being held this week before the doors open to the public for the big reductions.

Hillingdon recently lost another flagship store when Randall’s in Uxbridge, closed it doors in January last year after 123 years as a department story.

The 1930s building in Vine Street is being redeveloped.
