Ful­brook’s triple win

JOAN Ful­brook was a triple win­ner at Har­ling­ton Bowls Club’s fi­nals day – land­ing no fewer than three tro­phies.

She beat Sheila Cut­more in both the hand­i­cap and two woods sin­gles fi­nals, win­ning 25-10 and 17-10 re­spec­tively, be­fore edg­ing past Betty Poole 11-10 in the yard­stick fi­nal.

Cut­more, how­ever, shook off those de­feats to se­cure three pieces of sil­ver­ware her­self, not least the ladies cham­pi­onship, in which she saw off Brenda Reed 23-19.

She also teamed up with Cathy Fitzger­ald to win the two wood pairs fi­nal 15-11 against Reed and Val Lewis, then with Derek Cut­more to take the mixed pairs 21-15 over Lewis and Steve Bren­nan.

It was not suc­cess all the way for Ful­brook ei­ther, as she went down 76-74 to Reed in the 75 points fi­nal.

Jonathan Mar­riage beat Derek Cut­more 21-16 in the men’s cham­pi­onship fi­nal, but lost the hand­i­cap 21-19 to Steve Bren­nan, while Cut­more gained re­venge by beat­ing Mar­riage 21-15 in the two wood sin­gles.

Cut­more also took the two wood pairs af­ter team­ing up with Don Maylin to see off Alan Ma­co­l­ive and Dave An­der­son 19-13, but was on the los­ing side with John Ed­ding­ton in the club pairs, which was won by Bren­nan and Terry Markham 16-11.

Har­ling­ton lost on all three rinks in a friendly at Den­ham on Satur­day, on their way to an over­all 70-36 de­feat.
