Hawks deserved more

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

WHILE a point against Oxford Hawks, relegated from the league above, was satisfactory for Eastcote Hockey Club men on Saturday, it should have been more.

Leading 3-2 up with six minutes left , with a goal disallowed and having missed a penalty stroke, the story could have been very different.

Skipper Peter Brooks opened the scoring and then saw a goal harshly disallowed before Hawks grabbed an equaliser.

James Thomas again put the Boars in front only for Hawks to equalise again. Brooks then had a penalty saved, but Mark Allison scored for what looked like the winner before the third and final Hawks equaliser late on.

Meanwhile, a third successive loss saw for the ladies, this time a 5-0 at home to Witney, saw them hit the bottom of the table with little positives to take away.
