Run­ners make their mark on Moor Park

Hun­dreds pound the ground for 15th Moor Park char­ity run Al­most 2,000 peo­ple donned their run­ning shoes for the 15th Moor Park 10k and Ju­nior Fun Runs on Sun­day, Septem­ber 25.

The ju­nior fun run saw more than 1,000 young peo­ple take part, which is the high­est ever turnout for the event.

Do­na­tions are still pour­ing in but the event has raised at least £40,000 for the Lynda Jack­son Macmil­lan Cen­tre at Mount Ver­non Cancer Cen­tre in North­wood.

The weather held out de­spite pre­dic­tions of down­pours and 700 run­ners tack­led the 10k race which kicked off from Mer­chant Tay­lors’ School.

First place tro­phies went to Kerr Mil­lar who fin­ished in 34 min­utes and 18 sec­onds and Sasha Birkin who crossed the line in 41 min­utes and 57 sec­onds. All cash raised will go to sup­port and in­for­ma­tion ser­vices for peo­ple af­fected by cancer.
