A DEVOTED granddaughter and her family tackled a seven-mile hiking challenge in September to raise money for Northwood’s Michael Sobell Hospice (MSH) which cared for grandmother Eileen Thomas.

Vicky Egan and her sister Chloe and cousin Dawn Wood took on the annual autumn walk on Sunday September 18 setting off from Mount Vernon Hospital.

Their grandmother Eileen lost her battle with cancer in July this year and the family commemorated her by raising money for the hospice.

Vicky said: “This is the first time I have taken part in a Michael Sobell Hospice charity event, and hopefully the first of many.

“I’ve had family and friends who have been cared for by Michael Sobell Hospice and the care they received was simply outstanding. We were all looked after so well.

“It’s our way of saying thanks.”

Vicky, Chloe and Dawn have raised a staggering £1,576 after completing the walk in three hours and 20 minutes, and they thanked all those who had sponsored them.
