A FOR­MER Hilling­don stu­dent has raised £800 for pre­ma­ture ba­bies in the bor­ough by host­ing a pub and school re­union last month.

Richard War­ren put on the re­union for ex-pupils from Ab­bots­field School and Swake­leys School as well as pa­trons of the Oak Tree pub and The Hilling­don Arms pub on Septem­ber 23.

Open to any­one who was a stu­dent be­tween 1970 to 1985 the event at Uxbridge Golf Club raised a wel­come £815 for the Hilling­don Hos­pi­tals Char­ity.

Mr War­ren, who lives in St Al­bans in Hert­ford­shire, said: “I wanted a local smaller char­ity.

“Peo­ple were gen­er­ous in their giv­ing and it was all to a good cause

“Our grand­daugh­ter was pre­ma­ture and she just cel­e­brated her 7th birth­day. She was like a lit­tle bag of sugar in my hand.”

The 58-year-old, who at­tended Ab­bots­field, has al­ready booked up to hold next year’s re­union in Septem­ber.

Money raised was do­nated to the Cherubs fa­cil­ity in the neona­tal unit of Hilling­don Hos­pi­tal.

Dona­tions to the neona­tal ward go to­wards po­ten­tially life-sav­ing equip­ment from in­cu­ba­tors to alarms which mon­i­tor breath­ing.
