Government has got off the fence

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION -

MY family with all the other local residents in our area are delighted that the government has finally got off of the fence and finally made the right decision on airport expansion.

Many people I know are glad that there is finally some certainty about what’s going to happen to Heathrow and consequently, to their homes. Now we have that certainty, everyone can at last make plans for the future.

The Government approval of a new runway is just the first step of many. Most local people I know support Heathrow expansion, but there is a small minority who are against it and will continue to oppose it no matter what.

Now the hard work begins and building a new runway will take

time. But at least we have the certainty of knowing what is going to happen so that all of those affected can at last get on with their lives and make plans for the future.
