Don’t go back to the redrawing board

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION -

LAST Thursday I watched the Hillingdon Council meeting on YouTube.

I saw a deluded Cllr Mills announcing a newly invented ‘Uxbridge and Ruislip’ parliamentary constituency, oddly packed with seemingly a majority of Conservative voters that apparently would allegedly work for the all the residents.

It looks like we, the voters are to spend our money trying to convince the Boundary Commission to sign up to this. The Conservatives appeared to completely misunderstand that this will be futile, since the purpose of the Boundary Commission is to create fair constituencies independent of the influence of politicians who may seek to serve themselves.

It seems that we the residents have to pay to help the Conservatives in their efforts to create Constituency boundaries to suit their purposes, that is to keep them in power and claim their generous allowances forever.

The good news is you have the chance to have your say to the Boundary Commission by December 5, 2016 and the Conservative proposals are unlikely to be accepted.

The bad news is they waste our council money in the meantime. JOHN CAMPBELL Haslam Close Ickenham
