Po­lice want to speak to wit­nesses af­ter row over fare pay­ment

PO­LICE are ap­peal­ing to the pub­lic for in­for­ma­tion af­ter a bus driver was ver­bally abused fol­low­ing an ar­gu­ment about pay­ing for a fare in Hayes.

Of­fi­cers from the Roads and Trans­port Polic­ing Com­mand have re­leased an im­age of a man they would like to speak to who they be­lieve could help with their en­quiries.

The pas­sen­ger boarded the 427 bus at around 4.50pm on Septem­ber 14 at Uxbridge Road near Uxbridge County Court.

He and the driver then got into an ar­gu­ment about pay­ment for travel, when the pas­sen­ger al­legedly ver­bally abused the driver be­fore mak­ing off in the di­rec­tion of Star Road.

The sus­pect is de­scribed as a white man, of slim build, about 5ft 9ins tall, with ginger di­shev­elled hair and stub­ble on his face.

Any­one who recog­nises the man in the photo or any­one with in­for­ma­tion about the in­ci­dent is asked to call the Metropoli­tan Po­lice on 101 or the char­ity Crimestop­pers anony­mously on 0800555111.
