MP vis­its hos­pi­tal to open new phar­macy

HAYES and Har­ling­ton MP John McDon­nell joined health bosses to open a new phar­macy at Hilling­don Hos­pi­tal.

Mr McDon­nell toured the new out­pa­tient fa­cil­ity on Mon­day Novem­ber 14 with the chief ex­ec­u­tive of Hilling­don Hos­pi­tals NHS Foun­da­tion Trust Shane De­garis and chief phar­ma­cist An­drew Caunce.

The new fa­cil­ity was funded by Hilling­don Clin­i­cal Com­mis­sion­ing Group (CCG) and fea­tures new high-tech equip­ment, in­clud­ing a wait­ing time dis­play.

Shadow Chan­cel­lor Mr McDon­nell said: “Know­ing you are ac­tu­ally in the queue and be­ing dealt with promptly is won­der­ful and that is all about the pa­tient's wel­fare.”

The Labour MP was also shown the dis­pens­ing area and the com­put­er­con­troller ro­bot that picks out drugs and de­liv­ers them from the store room.

Mr McDon­nell thanked the CCG and staff for their hard work.

Chief ex­ec­u­tive of the trust Mr De­garis praised the team for ‘yet again do­ing a bril­liant job'.

Mr Caunce said: “The new out­pa­tient phar­macy is a sig­nif­i­cant im­prove­ment as pa­tients can now get any medicines im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing their out­pa­tient ap­point­ment.”
