What is happening with our centre?

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION -

SOME months ago I attended an enthusiastic meeting at Charville Community Centre to stop the sale and building on of unwanted, to the local community, buildings.

The infrastructure of the local area would have difficulty absorbing the large amount of new people, traffic etc. Schools although numerous in the area are full and all sorts of good and justifiable reasons were put forward as to how we, the locals, could and would show our objection to this plan.

In this meeting it was suggested that banners be fastened to fences, along with posters for house and shop windows, fundraising events and many more ideas were floated.

We even got to hear and ask questions of our local MP. But since the euphoria of the meeting..... nothing.

Has this died a death? Or has the land been secretly sold, withdrawn from sale or it it still just ‘hanging’ there hoping that the locals will just forget. Has mega apathy struck these people? Or are we waiting for unseen wheels to turn? It would be interesting if something came of the local concern for our area, fields and community.
