All I want for Christmas...
WE wish you a merry Christmas……. Well. 2016 was an interesting year wasn’t it? Most of us didn’t see the political and economic climate changing as it did (a bet on a Trump victory, Brexit and Leicester winning the Championship would have netted you over £5 million!) and it’s not been a great year for celebrities either.
We lost David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Fidel Castro, Muhammad Ali, Harper Lee and Prince to name just a few. History will judge the social and cultural impact they have made.
At RSPCA Middlesex North West Branch it has been a busy year but fortunately, without the drama the rest of the world has seen. Our Pop Up shop in Ruislip has got off to a flying start, our Welfare Team is back to full strength but it has basically been business as usual. At the start of November we had taken 427 animals into our care including 24 rats and a runaway tortoise (we did manage to get him back to his owners) and found homes for more than 390 animals, including 33 feral cats. A further 17 animals are in long term / permanent foster care. If the gloomy economic predictions turn out to be true we expect to be even busier in 2017 as pets ets are abandoned or placed in our care as families struggle to make ends meet.
Orchard is a domestic short haired, black and white cat and is constantly overlooked by potential adopters for no reason we can see. He is just a soppy, lovely boy, a bit lazy but who cares? All he wants is a loving home where he can be pampered and spoiled, maybe have a mooch around the garden when it’s not too cold and then back in for more tickles.
He is a chatty chap and very affectionate, though he has his moments when he just isn’t interested – he will let you know. Orchard really enjoys company and being around you. He would suit an older family, couple or single person and a fairly calm home. He could live with a cat that hasha a strong personalitype but he needsn a garden. Orchard has sent his letter to Santa – all he wants this yea year is a lovely new hom home and, as you can see he has packed his bags and is sitting ready to go! We really hope that 2017 will be his year.
Remember that a pet is a long term commitment and you should think long and hard before making any decisions.
