Uxbridge hosts champs

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

UXBRIDGE Sports Club will again host County Championship cricket as champions Middlesex take on Hampshire from September 12-15.

The Seaxes last played at Gatting Way in the four-day game in June 2015, when they drew with Worcestershire.

Middlesex’s four-day record at Uxbridge does not make for pleasant reading – they have not won on the ground since a one-run triumph over Leicestershire in 1995. Mark Ramprakash scored a century in each innings before Phil Tufnell (5/100) and John Emburey (4/81) spun the Seaxes to victory.

Last season Middlesex played at Old Merchant Taylor’s – incidentally against Hampshire – and claimed a comprehensive innings victory on their way to the title.

Uxbridge will also be the venue for two Natwest T20 Blast games as Somerset visit on Sunday July 16, with Gloucestershire playing there on August 15.
