Man detained for stabbing woman to death at home
Paranoid schizophrenic admits killing 50-year-old woman at shared accommodation
A 23-YEAR-OLD from Uxbridge has been detained under the Mental Health Act for stabbing a woman to death at their accommodation in November 2015.
Emmanuel Willems stabbed 50-year-old Bianca Shepherd to death at their shared accommodation, in Ivybridge Close, Uxbridge, on November 10 before fleeing to a family member’s home.
Willems, of Ivybridge Close, told the family member what he had done the following day and, unsure if he was telling the truth, they called Willems’ care workers.
The care workers visited Willems’ address where they found Ms Shepherd’s body.
Willems suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
A post-mortem examination found Ms Shepherd had suffered multiple stab wounds.
After he was arrested, Willems, in a police interview, denied killing her but eventually admitted the crime while undergoing psychiatric assessment, after he had been charged with murder on November 12.
He pleaded not guilty to murder, but his plea to the manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility was accepted at a court hearing on December 19 last year.
Willems was sentenced on Friday January 13 at the Old Bailey and was detained under Section 37 of the Mental Health Act 1983 with a restriction in place under Section 41.
