Van crash chaos

A PO­LICE van had to be towed away fol­low­ing a crash which caused traf­fic chaos dur­ing rush hour.

The col­li­sion be­tween a po­lice van and a car on the morn­ing of Jan­uary 11 sparked huge traf­fic queues.

Metropoli­tan Po­lice said one of its vans was in­volved in a col­li­sion with a car at around 7am in the A40 Hanger Lane Gyra­tory.

One po­lice of­fi­cer re­ceived treat­ment for mi­nor in­juries.

It is not yet clear if the po­lice van was re­spond­ing to a call at the time of the crash.

The col­li­sion sparked traf­fic queues stretch­ing eight miles from Uxbridge to Hanger Lane in the A40, as well as traf­fic to and from the Chiswick Round­about.

Ac­cord­ing to Trans­port for Lon­don (TfL), the col­li­sion had cleared shortly be­fore noon.

At around 1pm, traf­fic had eased be­tween Northolt and Hanger Lane, but re­mained be­tween Hanger Lane and Gypsy Cor­ner up un­til around 3pm.
