Pair sign again for Stones but centre-back Hamblin’s heading off to Hemel

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

JONATHAN NORTH and Matty Whichelow have cheered Wealdstone after signing new deals.

The pair have agreed to stay for the next National League South campaign as The Stones bid to improve on a faltering campaign which saw them miss out on the play-offs.

But there was bad news for the club when Tom Hamblin announced he was switching to Hemel Hempstead Town. The centre-back, who joined Wealdstone four years ago, has been a stalwart at the back.

Goalkeeper North will undoubtedly miss him as he heads towards his 250th appearance for the club, having overcome a serious injury in March 2012.

Like North, winger Whichelow enjoyed a spell at Watford but arrived last August from Boreham Wood after a career which has taken in Exeter City, Wycombe Wanderers and Accrington Stanley.
