Wealdstone hand out a right Royal thrashing to Jaap Stam’s young charges
WEALDSTONE FC were set to go into last night’s Middlesex Senior Cup final in fine form after thrashing Reading’s U23s on Saturday.
The Stones won their final home pre-season friendly 6-1 at Grosvenor Park to warm up for the planned trip to Hampton & Richmond Borough last night. Former Torquay striker Elliot Benyon and close-season signing Abobaker Eisa hit second-half doubles at the weekend.
The Stones are unbeaten after seeing off Fulham and Watford this summer and took the lead on 21 minutes, Shaquille Hippolyte- Patrick firing low past Gabe Rosario’s left hand. The hosts doubled the advantage on 49 minutes, Benyon sending Rosario the wrong way from the spot after Matt Whichelow was bundled over.
Whichelow then teed up Eisa for 3-0, before Benyon added the fourth before the hour.
Alex Andresson pulled one back before Eisa slotted home a fifth for Gordon Bartlett’s men.
Substitute Michael Anastasiou drilled home the sixth to complete the rout for the Stones, who finish pre-season away to Hitchin Town on Saturday, a week before the National South season starts.
