Weald­stone hand out a right Royal thrashing to Jaap Stam’s young charges

WEALD­STONE FC were set to go into last night’s Mid­dle­sex Se­nior Cup fi­nal in fine form af­ter thrashing Read­ing’s U23s on Satur­day.

The Stones won their fi­nal home pre-sea­son friendly 6-1 at Grosvenor Park to warm up for the planned trip to Hamp­ton & Rich­mond Bor­ough last night. For­mer Torquay striker El­liot Benyon and close-sea­son sign­ing Abobaker Eisa hit sec­ond-half dou­bles at the week­end.

The Stones are un­beaten af­ter see­ing off Ful­ham and Wat­ford this sum­mer and took the lead on 21 min­utes, Shaquille Hip­polyte- Pa­trick fir­ing low past Gabe Rosario’s left hand. The hosts dou­bled the ad­van­tage on 49 min­utes, Benyon send­ing Rosario the wrong way from the spot af­ter Matt Which­e­low was bun­dled over.

Which­e­low then teed up Eisa for 3-0, be­fore Benyon added the fourth be­fore the hour.

Alex An­dres­son pulled one back be­fore Eisa slot­ted home a fifth for Gor­don Bartlett’s men.

Sub­sti­tute Michael Anas­ta­siou drilled home the sixth to com­plete the rout for the Stones, who fin­ish pre-sea­son away to Hitchin Town on Satur­day, a week be­fore the Na­tional South sea­son starts.
