Ealry morning power cut hits 15,000 customers

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

“SAVE me from the purge” was one plea on Twitter as the lights went out in Uxbridge early Friday morning hitting thousands of homes.

Residents reported power failures early in the morning of Friday July 28.

The electricity provider for the area confirmed the outage lasted more than an hour and was due to a fault to an underground cable. Many took to social media website Twitter to report the outage. The Uxbridge Waterstones Twitter feed posted: “I’m in West Drayton and there is a powercut. SAVE ME FROM THE PURGE, TWITTER.”

A spokesman for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, said: “Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) was alerted to a power cut in the Uxbridge area at 12.13am on Friday 28th July. 15,544 customers were affected by a fault to an underground cable, with supply restored at 1.26am. “SSEN would like to apologise to its customers for any inconvenience this power cut has caused and thanks them for their patience while our engineers worked to safely restore their supply.”
