Uxbridge should remain open

-

I READ the letter “Closure threat is worrying” (Gazette, October 24) by Margaret Whellams, who is very concerned that Uxbridge police station is threatened with closure.

As she points out, it is modern and fit for purpose, whereas Hayes End police station which is proposed as the central station, will need money spent on it.

As there may only be one police station left open it should be Uxbridge police station.

This is because Uxbridge is easy to reach, being about three minutes’ walk from Uxbridge tube station. Uxbridge is the main hub of Hillingdon borough. Many people, particularly the elderly & women, may be nervous of travelling by bus at night to reach Hayes End police station to report a crime. Hayes End doesn’t have a tube station. I wish the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, or whoever is deciding this, would make the logical decision. Name and address withheld
