Giuseppe Zanotti recalls his Studio 54 nights for a disco-inspired A/W 16 collection

Giuseppe Zanotti recalled the hedonistic days of disco for his bold new collection

Inspired by the world’s most iconic nightspots, from Le Palace in Paris to New York’s Danceteria, the autumn/winter collection from Giuseppe Zanotti pulses with the glamour and decadence of the Studio 54 era. ‘With this collection I wanted to express that feeling of freedom,’ Zanotti says. ‘The rush you get from putting something on and knowing it perfectly articulates who you are in that moment.’ In the early Eighties, Guiseppe Zanotti was a DJ himself and his love of music and avant-garde nightlife is captured in this collection of sequin boots, glitter platforms and embellished stilettos. His muses include Jerry Hall and other Seventies fashion models, yet the allure of their fearless style is just as relevant now. ‘Fashion today is about total self-expression,’ he says. ‘The beauty of modern luxury is the absence of rules.’ charlotte davey
