For S/S 17, Emilia Wickstead looked to the 20th-century architect Frank Lloyd Wright. ‘The disparate interiors of his architectural wonders played a big part – they are artful and sophisticated as well as intimate and tender,’ says Wickstead. ‘I like to play on architecture and translate a delicate, colourful interplay between romance and modernity.’ These influences appear via charming wallpaper-print florals and candy shades, made iconic by Wright’s 1960s Snow Flake Motel. ‘I have a preoccupation with his vibrant colour palette of pink, tangerine orange and powder blue,’ she says. Bold geometric shapes reminiscent of a Miró mobile reflect Wright’s modernist work, while staying within the Wickstead aesthetic. The moodboard also features youthful gingham and lace, keeping the collection fresh and feminine, thereby remaining true to Emilia Wickstead herself. charlotte davey
