THE WESTBURY DUBLIN
Post-recession Dublin is a friendly, dynamic city filled with live music (Whelan’s), food trucks (the Bernard Shaw) and quirky beauty parlours (Tropical Popical is Saoirse Ronan’s favourite). After its recent refurbishment, there’s no better place to lay your head than on the supremely fluffy pillows at the Westbury, which is a haven right in the centre of the action. Something of an Irish institution, the hotel boasts a new look of roll-top baths, velvet armchairs and an art deco-style bar, the Sidecar. The restaurant, Wilde, reflects Dublin’s fast-emerging culinary scene with wonderful dishes including grilled giant prawns and baked Alaska with peach and sour cherry. lucy halfhead
