Raise a glass as pub celebrates 30 great years
Family fun day at The Brookhouse
A MUCH-LOVED Hayes pub is set to mark its 30th anniversary later this month and to celebrate the milestone owners Gary and Sarah Gilchrist will be hosting a huge family fun day and are hoping the community will join in.
Gary took over the pub in Kingshill Avenue aged 28, when a friend ‘parachuted’ him into Hayes with the task of running a major pub.
With the support of locals the pub has managed to raise over £200,000 for great causes PARTY PUB: over the last 30 years.
Gary, 57, said: “I came to The Brookhouse as a young 28-year-old, unmarried, no children and look at me now.
“Little did I know taking on The Brookhouse would be the challenge of a lifetime.
“If you had said to me I would be here in 30 years time I would have laughed in your face.”
The family fun day on Saturday July 30 will include a bouncy castle, face painting, a magician and a barbecue for all ages to enjoy.
Gary and Sarah will be helping to raise more money for a fantastic cause too.
Regulars at The Brookhouse, Tara and Kirk Brown lost their two-year-old son Dylan to Mitochondrial Disorder and Cardiomyopathy.
The couple now have a daughter called Olivia and any money raised will go to charity.
Gary added: “I would like to sincerely thank all my loyal regulars who have supported me from day one – you all know who you are.
“Without your support I would also not still be here.”
The big day kicks off at midday and there are also set to be some big name celebrities attending, who are being kept secret for now.
n All are welcomed to The Brookhouse to celebrate the family fun day
