Harefield come up short of top two but promotion is still very much on the cards

Hayes & Harlington Gazette - - SPORT -

PERFECTION can prove elusive – just ask Harefield United U13s.

The junior footballers were aiming to win 10 out of 10 games, having been confirmed as the form side of the Windsor & South Bucks Division Three a week earlier by beating Delaford Colts thanks to hat-tricks from Joseph Brown and Alex Groves plus goals from Noah Temtime and George Scott.

But a double-figure run of victories proved just beyond Harefield in a top-of-the-table clash with Chinnor Youth with United’s juniors beaten by a late goal.

That put a place in the top two out of reach but three teams go up, so two wins in Harefield’s last three games will secure promotion and all three matches are at their home base of Preston Park, on Friday and Sunday with the final game on May 28. That would be a huge achievement for a rapidly improving team.
