But the pay­offs don’t stop there. Re­search re­veals that the real ben­e­fits of a green work­out lie in the way it shapes your mind.

‘Ex­er­cis­ing out­side has a huge im­pact on men­tal well­be­ing,’ ex­plains David Brown, man­ager of out­door gym, BaseFit Shored­itch ( ‘It in­creases fit­ness lev­els, im­proves mood and pro­vides al­most all of the daily vi­ta­min D re­quire­ment in just 30 min­utes.’ Want to build a bet­ter body to boot? Then you need a plan that will boost your base­line fit­ness. ‘Train­ing out­doors is a to­tally dif­fer­ent an­i­mal com­pared with in­door train­ing. The fresh air seems to tire you out quickly, leav­ing you work­ing harder to get things done,’ says Brown.
