Here’s an­other rea­son to hit the pool: data re­leased by Swim Eng­land shows that swim­mers live longer than the av­er­age per­son. The in­de­pen­dent re­port re­veals that pool pad­dlers have a 28 per cent lower risk of suf­fer­ing an early death and 41 per cent less chance of ex­pe­ri­enc­ing a stroke or heart dis­ease. The water sport also helps chil­dren to de­velop cog­ni­tive and so­cial skills, plus en­ables older folk to stay phys­i­cally and men­tally fit­ter for longer. Swim­ming is a boon to your body too, as it’s a lower-im­pact ac­tiv­ity that works you from head to toe. The water’s good for you – jump in!
