Here’s another reason to hit the pool: data released by Swim England shows that swimmers live longer than the average person. The independent report reveals that pool paddlers have a 28 per cent lower risk of suffering an early death and 41 per cent less chance of experiencing a stroke or heart disease. The water sport also helps children to develop cognitive and social skills, plus enables older folk to stay physically and mentally fitter for longer. Swimming is a boon to your body too, as it’s a lower-impact activity that works you from head to toe. The water’s good for you – jump in!
