Researchers at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, USA, have found it protects your brain from cognitive decline and reduces markers of Alzheimer’s disease. The study showed mice fed extra-virgin olive oil-enriched diets had reduced inflammation in the brain, and a higher level of autophagy – a process that clears the brain of toxins. This is an important discovery, as low levels are an indicator of Alzheimer’s. Time for an extra drizzle.
