Katy & Orlando: Their dogs are STILL dating
They’re over, but meeting up for puppy love
Oh darlings, Mummy and Daddy may not love each other any more, but they will never stop loving you two… Six weeks after their break-up, friends say Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are determined that their split won’t upset their matching Maltipoos. In fact, heat can reveal that the pair have been meeting up in secret – just so the two dogs can hang out.
“They really don’t want to traumatise the dogs by keeping them apart,” says an insider close to Katy, 32, who’s had Nugget since 2015, and actor Orlando, 40, who picked up a matching puppy, Cheeto, during their year-long relationship. “They figure, why should their pets suffer just because they’ve broken up? Katy’s dogs are like her kids, and they both treated their dogs like their babies for ages.”
The pair, who started dating in February 2016, have both posted regular cute dog shots to their social media since the split. Orlando also confirmed a reunion last month, with a video of the two dogs playing. The insider continues, “Orly misses Nugget – they really bonded when he was with Katy. He and Katy have made sure the dogs get to see each other at least twice since the split. It’s not all about them, though, it’s also been nice for their owners to see each other, too. Orlando still feels bad about the way things ended, so this is a way of assuaging his guilt.” But Katy hinted that Nugget might be ready to move on, adding her own video recently of Instagram-famous Maltipoos, Agador and Fred, and suggesting Nugget was “looking for that DM slide”.
