It’s been as entertaining a series of BGT as ever so far this year, with a dizzying array of highly impressive performers covering the full gamut of genres. Although, we still await a proper singing dog. Now it gets really serious, as the show swings into gear for the live semi-finals. But first is this Saturday’s show, known traditionally as the “deliberation” episode, in which the judges and Ant & Dec gather in a London theatre to cast an eye over the myriad acts they blithely put through from the auditions and now have to whittle them down to the 35 performers who will join the five Golden Buzzer winners for the live shows. Of course, the judges will shamelessly ratchet up the tension, as each gaggle of acts stands before them, waiting to hear if they get a yay or a nay. Tears will flow. Then, from Bank Holiday Monday through to next Friday, we get to see eight acts per night strutting their stuff live, with two per show going through to the Grand Final – one chosen outright by the viewing public, and the other selected from the next two most popular choices by the judges.
