THE CHILD IN TIME
What? This one-off, featurelength drama, produced by and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, is adapted from Ian Mcewan’s 1987 devastatingly moving masterpiece. It’s set two years after the only daughter of children’s author Stephen Lewis disappears during a trip to the supermarket. His wife Julie has left him and become a recluse, while his best friends have retired to the country and are dealing with their own issues. We chat to Cumberbatch about the whole thing in next week’s issue.
Who? Benedict is joined by Trainspotting’s Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Campbell Moore (The History Boys) and Luther’s Saskia Reeves.
When? BBC1, late September.
