What? This one-off, fea­ture­length drama, pro­duced by and star­ring Bene­dict Cum­ber­batch, is adapted from Ian Mce­wan’s 1987 dev­as­tat­ingly mov­ing mas­ter­piece. It’s set two years af­ter the only daugh­ter of chil­dren’s au­thor Stephen Lewis dis­ap­pears dur­ing a trip to the su­per­mar­ket. His wife Julie has left him and be­come a recluse, while his best friends have re­tired to the coun­try and are deal­ing with their own is­sues. We chat to Cum­ber­batch about the whole thing in next week’s is­sue.
