Peter Rabbit

Cert PG, 95 minutes, in cinemas 16 March

- Charles Gant

Starring: Domhnall Gleeson, Rose Byrne, voice of James Corden Director: Will Gluck

THE PLOT When Farmer Mcgregor has a fatal heart attack, his uptight heir Thomas (Gleeson) arrives on a mission to sell the farm. Then he falls for his artist neighbour (Byrne) – but what is to be done about all the wild creatures that raid his garden?

WHAT’S RIGHT WITH IT? A comedy of escalation in which Thomas is repeatedly outwitted by cheeky Peter (voice of Corden) and his fellow rabbits. This is like a reverse Home Alone, we’re rooting for the intruders. WHAT’S WRONG WITH IT? If you have any reverence for the Beatrix Potter source material, this wildly unfaithful treatment could irk. VERDICT Animal LOLS for the Easter hols.
