la tania
Méribel is part of the swanky Trois Vallees cluster of ski resorts and has seen visitors include the Beckhams, Sophie Ellis-bextor and Emma Willis. But if you give them a swerve and head to La Tania, you’ll find a great family-friendly haven with free buses linking you to the other locations. Originally built for the 1992 Winter Olympics, this resort has a cosy feel, and is mostly pedestrianised, so it’s great if you have small people in tow. There’s a great crèche, plus tobogganing and free hot chocolate every Sunday. La Tania has an extensive selection of blue runs to keep your little people busy, although you can easily search out more challenging routes nearby, too. Plus, there’s a diverse range of accommodation –from full board hotels to self-catering chalets – so you’re guaranteed to find somewhere to suit you.
book It: Chalet Ourson is a beautiful, log cabin-style accommodation with “ski in, ski out”, which takes you onto the nursery slopes. It has five bedrooms, which you can book individually, or hire out the entire chalet, which sleeps 12, and you’ll get two places free. It costs from £345 per person per week full-board (excluding flights and transfers) via Thealpinegeneration.com.
