Re­mem­brance Day traf­fic re­stric­tions

TORQUAY’S Re­mem­brance Sun­day Cer­e­mony will take place at the Ceno­taph in Princess Gar­dens on Novem­ber11 at 11am.

Tor­bay Coun­cil has been work­ing closely with Devon and Corn­wall Po­lice and has re­quested a ster­ile area for the whole of the seafront area for se­cu­rity rea­sons.

Tor­bay Road will be closed be­tween the Bel­grave Road/Abbey Cres­cent junc­tions along to Torquay Pav­il­ion be­tween 9am and 2pm.

Tor­bay Road will have a park­ing sus­pen­sion, in both direc­tions, ac­tive on Sun­day from 1am through to 2pm.

No ve­hi­cles will be per­mit­ted within the closed road of Tor­bay Road be­tween 9am and 2pm (with­out ex­cep­tion).

Only pedes­tri­ans will be al­lowed to have ac­cess through the clo­sure be­tween 9am and 2pm.

Lo­cal busi­nesses, emer­gency ser­vices, taxis and pub­lic trans­port have all been in­formed, and di­ver­sions will be in place.

A spokesman said: “Once the cer­e­mony has fin­ished and the pa­rade has com­fort­ably passed, Tor­bay Coun­cil will en­deav­our to re­open the high­way as soon as pos­si­ble.”

There is a drop-off point for dis­abled and el­derly at­ten­dees at Torquay Pav­il­ion via the di­ver­sion routes.
