Post Horn Gallop sets runners on their way
CHURCHES TOGETHER in Sapcote and Sharnford are to host their annual charity fun run on Saturday June 3.
Starting at 10am from All Saints’ Church hall in Sapcote, runners will be set off by Leicester City’s Paul Hing playing the Post Horn Gallop, as he does at all home games at the King Power Stadium.
Proceeds will be shared between previously supported causes Tear Fund, a Christian relief agency, and Cancer Research UK plus, new for this year, Parkinson’s UK.
People are invited to walk, run or jog - with their dog if wished - the 4.5km (2.8mile) country bridleway route between the two villages and back again.
The route, which avoids main roads, will be clearly signed and there will be marshals for support along the way.
Last year’s run saw more than 50 men, women and children raise more than £600 for the nominated causes.
Open to all, anyone aged under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Entry is £5 on the day of which all profits after administration costs will go to the named beneficiaries.
West Leicestershire Community First Responders will be in attendance in case of medical emergencies.
And the event will coincide with Sapcote summer fair, meanign that there will be stalls and sideshows for extra interest.
