A concert of musical chemistry
AN EVENING of “harmonic chemistry” is promised when Hinckley Music Club hosts a performance by pianist James Willshire at Holy Trinity Church on June 17.
International soloist and chamber musician, Mr Willshire predicts highlights will be Beethoven’s piano sonata op 53 - known as the Waldstein Sonata - and pieces by Debussy including Images, which the composer described as having been written “in accordance with the most recent findings of harmonic chemistry”.
The performance precedes his planned Debussy 2018 project in which he plans to perform the complete repertoir of solo piano music by Debussy throughout the year, with complete cycles to be played in Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as individual concerts across the country.
Mr Willshire is also a renowned performer of contemporary British piano music and a piano teacher.
His Hinckley concert begins at 7.30pm and admission will be £12 for adults, £5 for students, accompanied children admitted free of charge.
