Town famous for pies set to host special festival

A PASTRY shell filled with delicious treats - who self-respecting Brit doesn’t love a pit?

Now here’s another chance celebrate the staple of the British dinner by sampling, buying, eating and even learning how to make pies at PieFest.

Anything and everything pie-related will be on offer at the very specific food festival which will be held at the UK’s “Capital of Pies”, here in Leicesters­hire, Melton Mowbray

The nation eats more £1 billion worth of pies per year, so it’s no wonder that the last year, the inaugural PieFest was so successful.

Organisers are hoping to match that success and show people the great range of the British pie.

Matthew O’Callaghan, from the Melton Mowbray Food Partnershi­p, and organiser of PieFest 2017, said: “Last year’s inaugural PieFest event was a tremendous success in its first year and was enjoyed by visitors and exhibitors alike.

“We are confident of building on that success with this years event and hope to show people he great range, quality and versatilit­y of the fantastic British pie.”

PieFest will include talks, tastings, demonstrat­ions and workshops, there will also be a Pie Kitchen where visitors can eat delicious hot pies with a variety of accompanim­ents.

There will also be cheese, beer, cakes, wine, chutneys, cider and much more to try while watching the entertainm­ent.

The event is from 10am-4pm throughout the weekend of July 29 to 30 at the town’s Cattle Market.

All stands will be under cover so you won’t need to worry about the Great British weather!
