Ballet degree course on offer in town

A BALLET school based in Hinckley is now offering students the chance to study for a degree in ballet performance.

From September, The School of Ballet Theatre UK, based in The Borough, will be offering a BA (Hons) in Ballet Performance to its students, validated by University of West London. It will be the only institution in the UK to offer this qualification.

The school has been up and running for three years, thanks to artistic director Christopher Moore.

Hinckley-born Christopher said that he is delighted to be able to offer such a high calibre of qualification, adding: “This new degree status will mean that as a school we can nurture our students in a way never before possible, preparing them for their professional careers.”

The school attracts hundreds of applicants from around the world, and the school now expects to see this number grow.

The new degree will see students taught classical training, as well as the connections between dance, choreography and music.

As part of their studies, students will also be working with the professional dance company, Ballet Theatre UK, and performing in an upcoming UK tour.

Christopher added: “I am hon- oured to be leading the school as it embarks on a new chapter of innovation.

“I’m grateful that I can combine my passion for dance and education together in this groundbreaking new degree that will prepare students to make an impact globally as intellectually engaged creatives.”
