Cabinet changes after departures
FURTHER changes have taken place among the ruling Conservative group at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.
Ratby, Bagworth and Thornton ward representative Councillor Chris Boothby has stepped down from the executive.
He was responsible for matters around housing and community safety.
His place is being taken by Cllr Peter Wallace, member for Burbage St Catherine and Lash Hill.
The switch was announced by leader of the council, Mike Hall at the start of a recent meeting.
He said: “I have to start this evening with some comments about changes to the executive.
“Firstly I must thank Cllr Boothby for the hard work he has put in over the past two years.
“His role as executive member for housing and community safety will now be filled by Cllr Peter Wallace.”
Cllr Hall (Burbage Sketchley and Stretton) also spoke about the departure of his fellow ward councillor, Stan Rooney.
Mr Rooney, who remains a Burbage parish councillor, resigned from the executive and council in August.
Reasons have not been given and no one from the Tory group has been willing to make a comment.
Cllr Hall said: “I was also sorry to lose Cllr Rooney from the executive, and as a member of this council.
“Stan has served not only the people of Burbage as a councillor, but the whole borough in his role as executive member for planning.
“Stan had the respect of members and officers alike. His executive position will now be taken by the former mayor Cllr Richard Allan.” the
