New dio­cese chair­man

THE Dio­cese of Le­ices­ter has ap­pointed a new chair­man of the Dioce­san Board of Ed­u­ca­tion (DBE).

Stephen Ad­shead, a project man­ager from Lough­bor­ough, is tak­ing on the im­por­tant role.

The board has over­sight of all 97 church schools and acad­e­mies, with some 22,000 pupils.

Mr Ad­shead said he is looking for­ward to work­ing with di­rec­tor Carolyn Lewis to en­sure good de­vel­op­ment and ed­u­ca­tion for stu­dents, and to sup­port re­ponses to con­tin­u­ing or­gan­i­sa­tional changes.

The DBE works in de­vel­op­ing gov­er­nance and school lead­er­ship through ap­point­ments, train­ing and de­vel­op­ment, over­see­ing church school land and build­ings, and pro­mot­ing qual­ity re­li­gious ed­u­ca­tion and col­lec­tive wor­ship.

It also car­ries out strate­gic plan­ning for church school de­vel­op­ment and li­aises with lo­cal and na­tional part­ners.
