Vikings clash at museum talk
AUTHOR Marianne Whiting will be giving an illustrated talk entitled Anglo Saxons and Vikings – Cousins at War to launch Hinckley and District Museum’s new autumn programme next Thursday September 21.
The author of the Shieldmaiden trilogy of books will be discussing how the rival groups shared a cultural heritage but spent almost two centuries fighting each other, focussing on the effects of their clashes around Leicester.
The talk will be held in the schoolroom of the Great Meeting (Unitarian) Chapel on Baines Lane, Hinckley at 7.30pm.
Admission is free to members of the Friends of the museum and £3 for non-members, with refreshments available.
There is free parking in the Druid Street car park opposite the chapel and in the Lower Bond Street car park next to the museum.
