Vik­ings clash at museum talk

AU­THOR Mar­i­anne Whit­ing will be giv­ing an il­lus­trated talk en­ti­tled An­glo Sax­ons and Vik­ings – Cousins at War to launch Hinck­ley and District Museum’s new au­tumn pro­gramme next Thurs­day Septem­ber 21.

The au­thor of the Shield­maiden tril­ogy of books will be dis­cussing how the ri­val groups shared a cul­tural her­itage but spent al­most two cen­turies fight­ing each other, fo­cussing on the ef­fects of their clashes around Le­ices­ter.

The talk will be held in the school­room of the Great Meet­ing (Uni­tar­ian) Chapel on Baines Lane, Hinck­ley at 7.30pm.

Ad­mis­sion is free to mem­bers of the Friends of the museum and £3 for non-mem­bers, with re­fresh­ments avail­able.

There is free park­ing in the Druid Street car park op­po­site the chapel and in the Lower Bond Street car park next to the museum.
