Deadline approaches for places

Hinckley Times - - NEWS -

FAMILIES are urged to get together to discuss secondary schooling in order to secure preferred places for children moving up from juniors.

The deadline to apply for secondary schools across Hinckley and Bosworth is Tuesday October 31.

Officials at education authority, Leicestershire County Council, are urging parents to apply in good time and apply online.

An interactive guide has been launched to help out - available on the school admissions page of the county’s website.

The county council’s cabinet support member for children and families, Cllr Trevor Pendleton, said: “Last year, 97% of Leicestershire parents submitted an online application and we encourage people to use this approach.

“We also want to remind parents that there is no automatic entry to any school so it is very important for applications to be submitted before the closing date of October 31.”

Parents are also urged to contact schools they and their child is interested in to see if there are open evenings during which they can visit and find out more.
