Night of folk songs for char­ity

FOLK group The Houghton Weavers will be per­form­ing in Elmesthorpe to raise money for dis­abled chil­dren’s char­ity Newlife.

The group, who have 30 al­bums, three DVDs and nu­mer­ous ra­dio and televi- sion ap­pear­ances to their name, will be tak­ing to the stage at Elmesthorpe vil­lage hall on Satur­day October 21.

Their mix of jokes, anec­dotes and folk songs of all kinds - from rau­cous shanties to beau­ti­ful bal­lads - tra­di­tion­ally ends with a time for au­di­ence re­quests.

The ticket-only event costs £14, which in­cludes filled cobs on the night.
