Two new stores are on the way to Highcross in Leicester

Hinckley Times - - LETTERS -

SHOPPERS looking for that perfect Christmas gift might be able to find it in two new stores coming to Leicester’s Highcross.

Yankee Candle will open its first standalone shop in the shopping centre, while British tea specialist Whittard will offer hot drinks products with a store, too.

Mall bosses hope the new stores will be ready and open for the festive rush.

Commercial director of Hammerson, the company behind Highross, Iain Mitchell, said: “The news, coupled with recent decisions from JD Sports and Zara to upsize, reflects the strength of the centre and the city of Leicester.”

He also added that with a “significant reconfiguration” taking place at Highcross it is hoped it will “remain the destination of choice in the region for both occupiers and shoppers”.

In the past year fashion retailer QUIZ, Vietnamese restaurant Pho and leisure operator Treetop Adventure Golf have all signed up to debut in Leicester.

Both Zara and JD Sports have also chosen to move to bigger stores.

Whittard will open a 377 sq ft store next to L’Occitane and Aregento.
