Two vil­lage pubs bro­ken into

PO­LICE are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter two vil­lage pubs were bro­ken into un­der the cover of dark­ness.

Raiders tar­geted the Nags Head in Sta­ple­ton some­time be­tween 12.30am and 2am on Mon­day Novem­ber 13, while the Bulls Head in Nail­stone was at­tacked be­tween mid­night and 7am.

The land­lord of the Nags Head dis­cov­ered the bur­glary and found a win­dow smashed and in­ter­nal doors dam­aged.

The tak­ings from the week­end had been stolen. Po­lice have ob­tained CCTV footage from the pub and will be analysing it as part of the in­quiry.

The two tav­erns are just un­der six miles away, a five minute drive down the A447 Ashby Road.

A Le­ices­ter­shire Po­lice spokesman said: “We were called at 6.40am to a re­port of a break in of a premises on Main Street Sta­ple­ton then at 7.10am we re­ceived a call re­port­ing a bur­glary on Main Street Nail­stone.

“We are keep­ing an open mind as to whether they are linked and our in­quiries are con­tin­u­ing.”

Of­fi­cers are ap­peal­ing for any­one with in­for­ma­tion on the in­ci­dents to con­tact them on 101 re­fer­ring to in­ci­dent num­ber 87 of 13/11/17.
