Hospice launches annual festive raffle
AN IMPRESSIVE £10,000 is up for grabs in a festive raffle aimed at supporting care for people with lifelimiting illnesses.
The Leicestershire hospice, Loros, has launched its annual Christmas fundraiser with tickets at just £1 a pop.
Last year’s winners Paul and Linda Giles, of Lutterworth, are treating themselves to a dream trip to Canada with their winnings.
Linda said: “We saw buying a raffle ticket as a donation to Loros, we never had any intention of actually winning.
“We are both extremely interested in wildlife, so we will be putting the money towards a really nice holiday to Canada, where we will be able to see the local polar bear population.”
Lottery manager Liz Singleton said: “Who wouldn’t want to be £10,000 better off? Especially at Christmas time.
“With tickets just £1, this is too good an opportunity to miss and it’s all for a good cause too.”
The winner scoops a huge £10,000 while the second prize is £500, the third £250, and there are five runner-up prizes of £50.
Tickets for the raffle are on sale up until Sunday December 3 with the draw taking place on Wednesday December 13.
Last year’s winter raffle raised more than £120,000 for Loros and the team is hoping this year’s result will be even better.
Raffle tickets can be purchased from any of the 28 Loros shops across the city and county, as well as from the hospice itself. Visit loros.co.uk/raffle or call 0116 231 8430 for more information.
