Park and ride gets festive

Hinckley Times - - NEWS -

LEICESTER’S Park and Ride is giving passengers a fabulous festive fare gift to encourage visitors to the city to leave their cars behind.

From Boxing Day to New Year’s Eve (inclusive), day and group tickets will cost just £2 from 2pm each day.

Whether people are travelling into the city centre for the sales, sightseeing or enjoying the fun in Jubilee Square, the festive fare giveaway means that Leicester’s Park and Ride is an even better way to travel over the festive period.

Councillor Pam Posnett, Leicestershire County Council’s cabinet member for passenger transport, said: “Park and Ride is already a great value way to travel into the city and the fare offer makes it even better value.

“If you’re planning to travel into the city for the sales, to meet friends or to have fun on the Wheel of Light or ice rink in Jubilee Square, it makes even more sense to leave your car behind at one of our three Park and Ride sites and take the bus instead.”

Leicester’ Park and Ride is running every day in December (except Christmas Day).

The extra services on Sundays and Boxing Day run from 10am to 5.30pm, while the normal daily service operates from 7am to 7pm.

Buses run every 15 minutes from the three sites at Meynell’s Gorse, Enderby, and Birstall.

The service is not running on New Year’s Day and the normal service pattern will resume from Tuesday, January 2.

More details of the additional services, festive timetables and fares are available from the Leicester Park and Ride website at www. leicesterparkandride.
