BOOSTING tourism to the area has been in the spotlight as part of English Tourism Week.

Starting on Saturday (March 17) and running until Sunday (March 26). the week is being used by the newly formed Bosworth Tourism Association to showcase what Hinckley and Bosworth have to offer.

As part of the week the area’s MP David Tredinnick visited the Royal Arms Hotel in Sutton Cheney to meet representatives of well-known attractions such as Twycross Zoo and Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre.

Visitors are being urged to Explore Bosworth, a heritage destination which is brimming with things to do, cosy country pubs and countryside perfect for walking and cycling. To help visitors make the most of their trip two new resources will be launched –a Visitor Guide for Hinckley & Bosworth and the Explore Bosworth map.

The Leicestershire Cheese Company, Stud Farm Meats, the Royal Arms and the Hercules Revived restaurant shared their foodie delights too.

Research for Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council highlights that tourism and the hospitality sector are vital to the local economy accounting for a spend of over £117 million pounds in 2015 and over 3,000 jobs.

Businesses will be hoping that Mr Tredinnick can ensure Government policies nurture the sector.

Chair of the new association Sharon Earp, founder of The Dandelion Hideaway, said: “So many of my guests who stay with us are blown away by what we have around Bosworth.

“Many guests, return, year after year, it’s a real escape from the pressures of urban life.

“The businesses in this new group recognise the potential to bring more visitors and tourists to the area and that we’re ambassadors for our beautiful place.

“We hope that Mr Tredinnick will help us to boost tourism even more.”

Cllr Kevin Morell, executive member for rural places and communities and tourism at the Borough Council, said: “The Visitor Guide is a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to discover all the borough has to offer and shows just how much there is to see and do. It is full of beautiful pictures and interesting information and helps us along with our tourism partners to encourage more visitors to the area.” to offer
