Dragon helps fight cancer
A CANTONESE restaurant with links to Hinckley held a Chinese charity banquet which raised £1,315 for Cancer Research UK.
The Royal Dragon Cantonese Restaurant in Horeston Grange, Nuneaton, hosted the event on behalf of the Hinckley and district fundraising group for the national research charity.
In addition to the banquet of many courses, money was raised with a raffle, an auction and a game of ‘Irish’ bingo for a cash prize.
Entertainment was provided by Paul Martyn.
Chairman of the Hinckley and District Cancer Research UK (CRUK) committee Vicki Dolphin said: “Our grateful thanks go to Allan Smith, David and Louise Lam and their staff for organising the event and all who went along on the night or made a donation.
“We are directing the money raised on the night towards research into prostate cancer which is now one of the largest causes of fatalities due to cancer in men.”
